There’s time for everything, including sleep
? Ecclesiastes 3: 1 - 3, 5:12; Psalm 3:5-6

Introduction
There is time for everything under the sun, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to be awake and a time to sleep. When we do not find time to sleep we put our bodies in danger.

Sleep is a state of natural muscle relaxation and periodic suspension of consciousness (whereby we have reduced interaction with our surroundings). Like everything else God made, sleep is good but can be abused. Some sleep too much, some too little and few just about what the body requires is given.

The fact is, humans need sleep, between 7–8 hours a day. But most of us aren’t getting it.

What does the Bible say about sleep?

1. Good sleep is a result of trust in God - Psalm 4:8; 127:2
2. Sweet sleep is a reward of good labour- Eccle 5:12; Proverbs 3:24
3. God communicate to us through our sleep - 1 Kings 3:5; Matt 2:13
4. Sleep is a gift - Proverbs 3:24; Psalm 4:8

The Bible also warn us about sleep
1. It is not good to fall in love with deep sleep - Proverbs 20:13;
2. Too much - Proverbs 6:9-11; 10:5
3. Sleeping the wrong time - Matthew 26:40-46
4. Sleep deprivation - Eccles 8:16-17; Psalm 127:1-2

Why is it important?
1. God created it because He knows we needed it
2. It is for our health and well-being - even Jesus slept ( Lk 8:23; Mk 1:35
3. It has been scientifically proven that it boosts our memory
4. It helps our bodies to fight against infections, replenishes the body and improves our immune systems.
5. It helps our productivity and concentration

Conclusion:
Sleeping at the right time and in the right proportion is good for our health as believers, many are dying untimely now because their bodies shut down either due to lack of rest or sleep deprivation or the combination of the two. May the Lord help us to do the right things even as it concerns our health IJMN.
