Don’t Let Rejection Stop You - John 1:11
Introduction
Sometimes, the word ‘no’ simply means ‘not now but ask again’. So don’t let rejection stop you from advancing. Don’t see rejection as failure, when you see rejection as final, then one has finally failed. Social rejection occurs when an individual is deliberately excluded from a social relationship or social interaction. There are different types of rejection; interpersonal rejection, peer rejection, romantic rejection, faith based rejection and family estrangement. A person can be rejected on an individual basis or by an entire group of people.
1. Jesus faced rejection.
2. His disciples faced rejection.
3. We will face rejection.
• One of the greatest desires that any of us have is the need to be loved, accepted and needed.
• It's because we were created in love, to be loved and to share love.
Our Heavenly Father, the Good God of Creation created us out of love for the Bible tells us that God is love.
We were created to be loved and to share that love with God, with ourselves, with other humans and with all of creation.
What Do You Do When You Are Rejected?
I) Move on to another place where you will be accepted - John 1:12
Someone somewhere needs what you have, it is absolutely necessary to their success.
ii) Shake off the dust of your feet - Matthew 10:14
Repackage yourself and launch out again, sooner or later you succeed if you don’t quit.
iii) Don’t Personalise it - 1 Corinthians 16:9
Sometimes someone might reject what you are offering but not you in particular.
Opportunities and opposition - are like Siamese twins. Life will not hand you success on a platter of gold. You have got to overcome adversity and outlast the opposition in order to walk through the doors.
iv) Pray for courage to climb over or disregard rejection.
The benefits of prayer are numerous and life-changing. And when we are focusing on overcoming rejection, prayer plays a huge role in fighting discouragement. Communicating with God about our hurt and confusion gives us an important release in our spirit and soul.
All you need is your Faith in God and God’s favour.
Conclusion
All of us have experienced rejection. You simply can’t escape it. Whether it’s being rejected from a group of peers, a dating relationship, a job interview, or from your family…rejection can happen in many different ways and situations. However, no matter how many times you’ve had to face rejection, it never gets easy. It always stings. You have a choice to either allow that rejection to derail you and walk wounded, or you can choose to claim the heritage of a child of God and move forward in grace.
